English Learners
The English Learner team at Great Falls Public Schools works to build resources for students struggling with academic English, identified as English Learners (ELs). The annual ACCESS assessment allows us to identify gaps in academic language. To address these gaps, GFPS works with teachers to build academic English-rich classrooms. This enables all students to grow and develop their academic language and be successful in the language of school.
Title III or the English Language Acquisition, Language Enhancement, and Academic Achievement Act. It is a part of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015. It is specifically targeted to benefit English Learners (EL) and immigrant youth. Students who speak a language other than English or who come from a home where a Native American student’s academic English is impacted by residual Native language speech and word use patterns need extra support in academic English to succeed in school.
