Our Mission
The numbers of English Learners in our schools are on the rise. As a result, the teachers' need for guidance and resources have increased. Teachers in our schools want to know more about supporting students' language growth and removing language barriers to academic achievement. GFPS English Learner team aims to meet those needs by providing professional development, consults, resources, as well as continually educating our school community, and advocating for our English Learners and their families.
About Us
We believe that Academic English is important to academic success and ALL students benefit from intentional Academic Language instruction, especially English Learners (ELs). All students CAN develop academic language skills through daily supported practice in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. We believe that English Learners bring valuable diverse perspectives and experiences to the process of learning and every EL has strengths teachers can draw upon to help them grow.
