School Election Update
There are three open positions on the school board with the election scheduled for May 2nd. The five candidates are Trustee Bill Bronson, Rodney Meyers, Tony Rosales, Trustee Kim Skornogoski, and Trustee Amie Thompson. A candidate forum was held on April 19, 2023, at the Great Falls Public Library.

Important Dates for the May 2, 2023 GFPS Trustee Election
- April 12 – May 1, 2023, at the Elections Office, 325 2nd Ave North, Room 100 from
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. you may:- Register to Vote
- Request an Absentee ballot
- Cast your vote in person at the Elections Office through May 1, 2023
- April 17, 2023 – Absentee ballots will be mailed.
- April 19, 2023, 6:00 p.m. GFPS Trustee Candidate Forum will be held at the Great Falls Public Library. The forum is hosted by The Electric.
- April 25. 2023, 2:00 p.m. – Public testing of the tabulation machine at the Expo Park, Exhibition Hall.
- May 1, 2023, Last day to vote at the Elections Office. The office will be open from
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. - May 1, 2023, Absentee ballots may be requested until noon the day before the election.
- May 2, 2023 – Election Day. Voting will take place at the Expo Park, Exhibition Hall from
7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

This year, only those who are registered as Absentee Voters will be sent ballots on April 17th. You may check here to see if you are registered as an Absentee voter. If you are not a registered Absentee voter , you will not receive a ballot in the mail. You must go to the Cascade County Elections Office and request an Absentee ballot in person by May 1, 2023.
Absentee ballots will be mailed on April 17, 2023. Ballots may be returned by mail or in person to the Cascade County Election Office located at 325 2nd Avenue North Room 100, Great Falls, MT 59401. If sent by mail, please allow enough time for delivery prior to the May 2, 2023 deadline.
If you are not an absentee voter, ballots will be available beginning Wednesday, April 12, 2023. You may stop by the Elections Office between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday through May 1, 2023, to cast your vote. On Election Day, Tuesday, May 2, 2023, voting will only take place at the Exhibition Hall at the Montana Expo Park from 7:00 am - 8:00 pm . On behalf of the students and staff of Great Falls Public Schools and our Board of Trustees, we encourage you to study the candidates and cast your ballot by May 2nd. A GFPS Trustee Candidate Forum will be held on Wednesday, April 19th at 6:00 pm at the Great Falls Public Library. The forum is open to the public.

Trustee Election
Three (3) seats are up for election:
- Three seats that represent both elementary and secondary districts on the board for three years, until May 2026. Anyone interested in these positions must live within the Great Falls Public School District boundary. The positions are currently held by Bill Bronson, Kim Skornogoski, and Amie Thompson.
Candidates will need to declare their intent for the three-year term.
Great Falls Public School trustees are unpaid volunteer positions. Trustees are requested to attend an average of three to four monthly meetings that focus on curricula, policy, budget, administrative issues and other topics.
There are seven trustees on the Great Falls Public School Board. The seven seats represent both the elementary and secondary districts.

Ballots will be sent out on April 17, 2023 and, in order to be counted, must be received by May 2nd. Ballots can be mailed back or dropped off at the Cascade County Elections Office until May 2nd. Voters may also vote in person at Expo Park on May 2nd.
Ballots may be dropped off at the Elections Office at the Courthouse Annex at 325 2nd Ave North on Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm before Election Day. On Election Day, ballots can be dropped off at the Exhibition Hall at the Montana Expo Park 400 3rd St NW or/and Courthouse Annex from 7:00 am-8:00 pm.
How To File for Candidacy
School District Trustee Filing Timeline
Nominating petitions and candidacy forms will be available on December 8, 2022 for three (3) open seats on the Great Falls Public Schools Board of Trustees whose positions have reached the end of their term. The election will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.
The Declaration of Intent and Oath of Candidacy for Trustee Candidate Form may be obtained from the Great Falls County Elections Office located at 325 2nd Ave. North # 100 or from the office of Brian Patrick, Director of Business Operations, at the GFPS District Office Building, 1100 4th St. South.
The form must be filed with the Great Falls County Elections Office at 325 2nd Ave. North # 100, prior to 5:00 p.m., March 23, 2023, to be included on the ballot.
Candidates must report campaign expenditures to the Montana Commissioner of Political Practices.
