2021 Great Falls Public Schools Election Information

The only item on the ballot this year is one open trustee position on the school board.  

There will be no Elementary and High School General Fund Operating Levies requested. 

The ballots will be mailed on April 19.  Ballots can be returned by mail or in person to the Cascade County Election Office located at 325 2nd Avenue North
Great Falls, MT 59401
.  If sent by mail, please allow enough time for delivery prior to the May 4, 2021 deadline. 

On behalf of the students and staff of Great Falls Public Schools and our Board of Trustees, we hope you will study the candidates and cast your ballot by May 4.

Trustee Election

There is one (1) Trustee seat open this year. The deadline for candidates to file for election was March 25, 2021.  The mail ballot election will be run by the Cascade County Elections Department.  Ballots will be sent out on April 19th and in order to be counted, must be received by May 4th.  Ballots can be mailed back or dropped off at the Cascade County Elections Office until May 4th.  Voters may also vote in person at Expo Park on May 4th.   

Ballots may be dropped off at Elections Office at the Courthouse Annex at 325 2nd Ave North on Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm before Election Day.  On Election Day, ballots can be dropped off at the Exhibition Hall at the Montana Expo Park 400 3rd St NW or/and Courthouse Annex from 7:00 am-8:00 pm.

The Incumbent, Teresa Schreiner, chose not to re-run for the position.  The eight (8) candidates who filed by the filing deadline include: Russell Herring, Scott Jablonski, Kevin Leatherbarrow, Nathan Reiff, Tucker Schleining, Dustin Shoemake, Genevieve Smyth, and Marlee Sunchild.

How to file: School District Trustee Filing Timeline

There is currently one, three-year term on the District School Board that is expiring. Individuals who are interested in running must file a DECLARATION OF INTENT AND OATH OF CANDIDACY FOR TRUSTEE CANDIDATES with the County Elections Office. This office is located at 325 2nd Ave North, Great Falls. The filing date to do this is December 10, 2020 through March 25, 2021. Candidates must report campaign expenditures to the Montana Commissioner of Political Practices.
