STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK
I was recently in a local eating establishment and had the distinct pleasure to bump into a GFPS employee. Towards the end of our conversation, he told me that he enjoyed reading these Newsbits articles, especially the ones that discussed gratitude. He went on to share a piece of his family’s wisdom: Attitude and gratitude. You can’t have one without the other. That piece of wisdom has been rolling around in my brain since then and what better time to share with all of you than during Staff Appreciation Week!
Across our country, the first full week of May is set aside for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. One week to thank all of you for what you do for our kids, our community and our future. It hardly seems like enough. I know how much energy and emotion you put into your work. I know how much you care for your work and for the children you work with. I know that day in and day out you pour your heart and soul into making a difference. Five short days of thanks isn’t enough, but please know that as I write these words, they are heartfelt and sincere: Thank you so much for all you do! I hope you are thanked by many others this week. You deserve to be recognized and thanked not only during this week, but during the other 51 weeks of the year as well.
I also feel the need to be grateful for our community this week. Tomorrow is Election Day. We will find out the results of the levy vote. Regardless of the outcome, I thank the Great Falls citizens for having a healthy conversation about schools and the important part schools play in the health of our community. We will also find out the results of the trustee election. Again, regardless of the outcome, I am grateful that citizens want to serve their community in this way.
In closing, I think this is right: Attitude. Gratitude. You can’t have one without the other. Here’s to another wonderful Monday and another wonderful week in Great Falls Public Schools.
Take care. Stay safe. Be well.
