Superintendent’s Message

EXCELLENCE + EFFORT + PLANNING = SUCCESS

A famous businessman by the name of Paul J. Meyer said, “Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort.”

GFPS is committed to excellence! Our work is focused on one thing: All kids engaged in learning today…for life tomorrow. Our belief statements, vision and mission (http://www.gfps.k12.mt.us/content/mission) underscore this point. Take a moment to refresh your memory regarding what we are about, what we value and how we do business. Thank you for your commitment to excellence!

GFPS employees and students put forth focused effort! The many achievements and accomplishments of students and staff just couldn’t happen without it! The determination, grit and resolve that you and students demonstrate each day makes a difference. Thank you!

GFPS believes in intelligent planning. Nearly everything we do takes a certain amount of planning and some things require a more concerted effort than others. In order for GFPS to continue to be a productive entity, we must pay attention to the future and we must pay attention to how we are going to prepare and respond to it. We are currently doing that on two fronts: the overall GFPS Strategic Plan and the development of a Facilities Plan.

The GFPS Strategic Plan is in the process of being updated. As you know, this plan guides the work of all of us. The Board had a first look at last week’s meeting. Please take a look as well. The draft can be found on page 68 here: http://www.gfps.k12.mt.us/sites/default/files/2015_03_23_REVISEDOnlineagenda.pdf. If you have suggestions, please let me know. The Board will consider changes and take action to adopt it on April 13.

The Facilities Plan is in the beginning stages of being developed. Lots of ideas are being generated and the community is starting to get involved. We are a long ways from having anything finalized so please help spread the word that this is a process that will involve community members and you all along the way. I will also add that this isn’t going to be easy. There are no quick and easy fixes but together, we will work towards solutions. I truly believe that our kids, our community and our future require nothing less.

I will close by wishing you a wonderful spring break! I hope you can use this time to recharge your batteries as we have a lot of hard work ahead of us.

Take care. Be safe. Stay well.
Tammy

Substitute teacher time sheets are due by the 2nd of each month.

All time cards are due on the above dates. Do not put them in the school mail any later, as it will be impossible to pay them on this pay period. All time cards must be signed by the employee before pay checks will be released.

All federal time cards are due to federal programs office two days before the dates listed above.

Secretaries, please review your time card check-off list and be sure all employees have turned in their time cards.

You’re Invited to WarFair!

You’re Invited to WarFair!

On Thursday, April 9, GFHS again is presenting our interdisciplinary performance fair, War Fair! As you know, War Fair! concerns topics extending far beyond war; students may present on the “war” against drugs, disease, advertising “wars,” etc. Two sessions are offered, the first from 8-11:30 and the second from 12:30-2:30. You are welcome to attend either or both.

We hope you and your students will make the trip to GFHS to see what it’s all about and to enjoy the presentations. Students work hard on them and become very polished and proud. The projects are very enjoyable. Hope to see you here!
