As the District's superintendent, I am in a unique position to tell you that the Great Falls School District is one of the finest in the state as well as the nation. The District has a well-deserved reputation for being leaders in education today. It is recognized for strong music, art and athletic programs. But, more important, the district is comprised of a healthy, happy community of educators who understand how important it is to provide every child with a supportive, motivating environment for learning. Kids here learn to be resourceful and are sought after by employers who value innovation.
If you are new to the area or are considering a move to Great Falls, I personally welcome you. This is an eclectic community of good neighbors. Forget what you have heard about Montana weather; it is surprisingly moderate! Most winters produce only a couple of snowstorms of three or four inches each. We have a strong arts community, world-class fly fishing, great skiing, and immediate access to hiking the best of the national wilderness areas.
Our schools are an ongoing source of pride to the community. Every poll or survey lists the schools at or near the top for quality and satisfaction. High academic achievement is our first goal; next is having schools where kids love to be and where parents feel welcome.
