Vocabulary
Trying to teach every single word that students may not recognize is time consuming and unrealistic. Having students understand a few key terms well is more effective than learning a list of words. It is important to be intentional about planning vocabulary instruction. Select essential vocabulary that will maximize student comprehension as well as their ability to articulate verbal and written responses. Here’s a resource that can help:

Another way to build vocabulary, fluency, and understanding with your students is with a Carousel or Gallery Walk. Teachers ask questions or post concepts on posters around the room. Students work in small groups (intentionally planned) to view each poster. Together the group will Read, Think, Discuss, and Write on the poster. Groups continue to rotate and read original concepts, the understanding from previous groups, and add their own understanding to the concept. This tool works especially well when pictures, examples, and diagrams are added. For more information on a Gallery Walk and examples of collaborative group work protocols, visit http://www.duplinschools.net/cms/lib01/NC01001360/Centricity/Domain/22/A...

Fall Print and Graphic Orders 2016-2017 School Year

All Fall orders need to be titled as "Fall" for the due date. That is for both the Print Center orders and Graphic orders.

Graphic orders for the 2016-2017 school year that must be created need to be submitted no later than June 30th. Any submissions beyond then may not be returned until approximately early October. Please try to prepare for the new school year early so we can get your orders done on time.

Fall Print orders CAN NOT be submitted electronically. With having such a high volume of orders for the fall, we do not want to risk any orders being lost in the system. If you have any questions or concerns please call 268-6051.
