The graduation ceremonies held over the weekend at GFHS and CMR and the one to be held on Tuesday for the PGEC graduates mark the culmination of an entire body of work: 13 years of educational opportunity provided by you for our students! None of what makes these celebrations possible happened by accident or by chance. It happened because of the dedication, talent, energy and care you bring to your work every single day of the school year!
And this school year is almost in the books! As another exciting and productive year draws to a close, please take some time to celebrate your personal goals and the District goals that were accomplished. We have worked hard to make our strategic plan come to life around:
• Our Kids - Student Achievement;
• Our Community - Stewardship and Accountability; and
• Our Future - Healthy, Safe and Secure Schools
As always, there is still so much to do. Our Trustees will continue their work around solutions to the facility issues: increasing enrollment and aging infrastructure. We will be developing a budget to present to the Trustees in August that supports the comprehensive programming we are so proud of. We will be engaging in professional development in these upcoming months that ensures instructional excellence. The quest to be a first class school district providing exceptional educational opportunity never ends…even in the summer.
Some of you will be a part of these efforts over the next three months. Thanks in advance to all of you working these summer days to prepare for the 2015-2016 school year. For those of you who are retiring after serving the district for many years, I wish you the best. To everyone else, I hope you get the chance to recharge and rejuvenate!
As for me, I will take some time to celebrate another great year as your superintendent, but I also plan to roll up my sleeves to continue the good work we have started together. I hope you will join me at the 4th of July Parade to celebrate this incredible country and community in which we live. I will not wish the days away, but I will be looking forward to seeing you at Convocation on Monday, August 24 at 8:00 am in the CMR Fieldhouse. In the meantime…
Take care. Be safe. Stay well.
