Superintendent's Message

SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE
Be 212

Happy New Year!  I send out wishes for only the best in teaching and learning as we embark upon the next 105 school days of the 2016-2017 school year!  As I look at my to-do list, I have decided not to panic as I contemplate the amount and importance of the work that must be accomplished in the upcoming days.  Instead, I have decided to be 212.

212 is power.  At 211 degrees, water is hot.  At 212 degrees, water boils.  With boiling water comes steam, and with steam, comes power.  By applying one extra degree of heat (effort), you get exponentially different results. A little extra heat takes you from passion to power.  One degree takes you from mission possible to mission accomplished.

I have never been real keen on making New Year resolutions, but I am committed to doing my work in only the best of ways.  I think being 212 will help get me there.  So here’s my promise for 2017:  I commit to operating at 212 degrees in everything I do.

As we work together to meet the changes and challenges that 2017 is bound to bring, let’s turn up the heat and be 212.  Here’s to our kids, our community and our future…full steam ahead!

Take care.  Be safe.  Stay well.
Tammy

STEAM Expo 2017

 Join the Fun! It’s FREE!

Teachers and administrators, please encourage ALL your students to either participate or attend.
(High School Teachers, please encourage your students to look into the STEAM scholarship as well.)

STEAM EXPO (science, technology, engineering, art, math) is an event designed to encourage the interaction and collaboration between our Great Falls Public School students and community professionals. The purpose is to apply knowledge and understanding of science, technology, engineering, art, and math to conduct in-depth “real-world” investigations. The process will include mentorships, demonstrations of classroom science explorations, and extensions of the inquiry process posed in student note-booking journals. The exposition itself will offer a venue for students to demonstrate the results of their STEAM studies, professionals to show how STEAM is used to better our communities, and spectators to participate in hands-on experiments. The STEAM EXPO event will connect our schools to the community, our students to professionals, and generate interest and excitement for science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

Participants and public will interact with science, technology, engineering, art, and math projects.
Approximately 40 community groups will also share information and provide hands-on activities!

Hope to see you as well at the STEAM EXPO 2017 to see the amazing inquiry work that will be presented by GFPS K-12 students.
