And The Award Goes to…..

Great Falls Public School District is working hard to meet award winning health initiatives.  Currently, the district is completing an application to be a Healthier US School.  The HealthierUS School Challenge (HUSSC) is a voluntary certification initiative established in 2004 to recognize those schools participating in the National School Lunch Program that have created healthier school environments through promotion of nutrition and physical activity.  Good job GFPS, and good luck!!

Thank You Blue Cross Blue Shield!

 

Allison Struber, GFPS Student Wellness Coordinator,  accepts a grant check from the Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Foundation.  With Allison (middle) is Mike Frank, CEO of BCBS of Montana, and Shannon Marsden, Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer.  The BCBS Foundation grant of $150,000, funded at $50,000 per year, supports the District’s efforts around student wellness.  January, 2011, began the second year of the grant.
