Assessment/Implementation Statement

Grade Six

The Board of Trustees adopted Houghton Mifflin  and Nystrom materials for the purpose of implementing the Social Studies curriculum. The assessment components for grade 6 include the use of text-based, criterion-referenced tests which measure the learning objectives found in the GFPS Curriculum Guide.  Daily Geography (GROW) can be utilized as supplemental instructional material for the adopted curriculum.

Chapter 5      Development of Societies

Chapter 7      Ancient Egypt

 

Unit 5

Chapter 11     The Ancient Greeks

Chapter 12     Classical Greece

 

Unit 6     

Chapter 13     The Rise of Rome

Classroom instruction can be supported through the use of supplemental Houghton Mifflin material.

 

Chapter tests are required as well as short answer responses to essay questions. Essay responses will be scored using a rubric. A score of 70 percent is considered satisfactory. Test data will be collected on LXR.
