Grade One

Implementation

A yearly overview based on content standards and benchmarks, supplemental teaching materials, and a unit matrix can be found in the Social Studies Implementation Guide for first grade. The Social Studies Implementation Guide contains five units which include:

Me Content Standards: 6.5, 2.6, 2.4, 6.3, 2.1, 2.5,

6.3, 6.1, 3.6, 2.7, & 5.6

Family Content Standards: 4.1, 6.1, 4.2, 6.2, 2.1, & 6.4

School Content Standards: 2.5, 6.3, 2.5, 2.3, 6.6,

2.6, 2.4, 3.3, & 3.5

Community Content Standards: 3.7, 5.1, 5.3, 4.7, 4.6, 3.6, & 3.2

World Content Standards: 4.6, 4.7, 3.1, 3.2, 3.5, 4.3, 4.4, 3.2, & 3.5

Assessment

The assessment component for grade one is designed to be as flexible as possible. Assessment is done at the awareness level and is based on teacher judgment. It is the teacher’s responsibility to determine if a student is at an awareness level in vocabulary and concepts.
